IRO
A hair salon project inspired by the temples and shrines that symbolize Nara, as well as the surrounding waterscape elements, with suo-iro, the prefecture’s symbolic deep reddish-purple color, used as the primary tone.
Within the inorganic space, the styling stations stand with a quiet dignity. Conceived as furniture-like elements, they were designed with a minimal specification.
The extensive use of curves softens the overall impression, while a plate element was incorporated to block diagonal sightlines. This feature also functions as a bulletin-board-like surface, contributing both to the spatial composition and to the comfort and sense of privacy for customers.
The shampoo area and hair-color mixing area are enclosed with lauan plywood finished in a soft, lustrous texture, creating a calm and composed atmosphere.
